About the President

Dr. Gascon has two decades of experience as an educator and a decade of experience as an administrator of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) in Quezon Province. Beginning in 2007, she has transformed this small college into a premier university (RA 9395, March 17, 2007) in Region IVA and has improved the quality of education through capacity building of its faculty, improving the laboratory and library facilities, and established a system of governance which is centered on true and satisfying service to its clienteles. As a result of which two of its colleges were recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as Center of Development (COD) for Teacher Education and Forestry programs. Aside from being an administrator, Dr. Gascon is also a researcher, extension worker, trainor and an advocate of environmental conservation and governance. At present, Dr. Gascon is a full-fledged University Professor by virtue of NBC 461 regular evaluation.

Her administration was able to produce 55 MS, 23Ph.Ds and 36 on-going scholars through the Faculty and Staff Development Program thereby complementing her passion of building people, providing quality education and promoting a healthy environment.

Her success in administration can be attributed to her excellent leadership qualities, hard work, commitment, cooperation and trust of the SLSU community, officials of the university, practice of good governance, and grace of God.

In September 2015, she became the first lady President of Bulacan State University (BulSU). She initiated the five-year development plan of the University including its new vision and mission. She has started integrating her environmental advocacy in BulSU by being actively involved in training the Dumagat tribe in Norzagaray, Bulacan on Agroforestry.
