Introduction

The infonnation age in a globalized milieu has come to challenge Philippine society's long standing life ways, traditional values and coherent web of social relationship. Great strides in technology and natural sciences have brought new fonns of social behavior that impact on people's perception of themselves and on their views of their social and natural environment. Hence the ISSP Center for Continuing Social Science Education behooves upon itself to contribute to the understanding of these changes. It endeavors to make the study of Social Sciences
relevant to the lives of the people and underscore the goals of Social Studies of developing good citizenship and fostering social hannony in the society. It tasks itself
to disseminate knowledge from the various disciplines of Social Sciences to infonn
people's contemporary life ways. These however can be done through a system of continuing education that updates the knowledge and enhance the teaching skills of Social Studies teachers and instructors of Social Sciences. These are the concerns of the ISSP Center for Continuing Social Science Education.

           An excellent training center in the Social Sciences that actively addresses the need of Social            Studies and Social Science educators for mastery and skills enhancement as part of their            continuing professional development.
           
Mission
           
            To deliver an effective refresher training and continuing education for teachers in
            Social Studies and Social Sciences in the area of content and instructional methods.

Goals
           
            1. Organize symposia, seminars and conferences of current and relevant topics and
            concerns in Social Science education.
            2. Develop training designs for enriching the content of instruction in elementary
            and secondary Social Studies and courses in Social Sciences in the tertiary.
            3. Conduct a training program for the enhancement of creative teaching skills of
            teachers in the various disciplines of the Social Sciences for basic and higher
            education.
            4. Disseminate Social Science knowledge to infonn people's life ways and
            perspectives in the social world.
            5. Assist teachers in their preparation of instruction and production of materials for
            classroom use.
            6. Cultivate enthusiasm and strong commitment for quality instruction and
            realization of social science goals among educators in the Social Studies and
            Social Sciences.
