Approved Funded Research

Title: “Clean the Marilao-Meycauayan-Obando River System Project

The objective of this study is to determine the presence and levels of heavy metals in fishes and shellfishes and environment of the said river system. A research grant of Php.250,000.00 was given by the Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development (PCAMRD). The target date of completion of the project is December 2008.

Hosting of Central Luzon Industry and Energy Research and Development Consortium (CLIERDEC) Lecture-forum

The Bulacan State University Research Services Office hosted the CLIERDEC lecture-forum on “Role of the Academe in Regional Development through Research and Intellectual Property Rights” last September 18, 2007 held at the University Hostel.  The said event was participated by 56 faculty members from different colleges and institutes of the University.
The following are the topics that were discussed:
(1)Role of the Academe in Regional Development through Research by Dr. Conrado J. Oliveros; (2) Research Towards Professoriate by Dr. Brigido Corpuz; and (3) Intellectual Property Rights by Dr. Brigido Corpuz.

Hosting of National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Seminar-workshop

The Bulacan State University co-sponsor the National Research Council
Of the Phil. (NRCP) on a Seminar-workshop with theme,  “Research Capability Building for the Social Sciences Faculty of Selected Universities and Colleges in Central Luzon” last October 19-20, 2007 which was held at the University Hostel.  The said activity was participated by our faculty from various colleges and faculty and research personnel from other universities in Bulacan.  The seminar aims to give insights regarding the research process in conducting Social Science, History, Economics, Political Science and Geography researches.

  1. Dr. Danilo Hilario and Dr. Grace M. Cruz attended the Workshop for the Regional Research Project and the Monitoring of the Researches/Research Outputs at the Bulacan State University – Hostel. January 11-12, 2007. The Bulacan State University teamed up with Tarlac State University for the CHED-endorsed research project entitled “Fabrication of a Pulverizing Machine”.
  2. Dr. Grace M. Cruz  and Dr. Erlinda P. Villamoran attended Seminar-Workshop on Research Project Administration and Monitoring for the GIA Projects (Migrant Workers, Medicinal Plants, and HEI linkages) at the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development of UP Diliman, Quezon City, January 17 & 30, 2007.
  3. Dr. Grace Cruz and selected faculty attended a seminar on “New Technologies in Biological Sciences, Current Environmental Issues and Research Methodologies in Social Sciences sponsored by the National Research Council of the Philippines Research Foundation, Baliuag University, June 22, 2007.
  4. Dr. Emerlita Sebastian (Graduate School Research Coordinator) and Ms. Ma. Jenina Tongol (Laboratory Analyst) attended a 5-day seminar on “Winning Proposals: Training Workshop on Project Development and Resource Generation”, Tarlac College of Agriculture, Camiling, August 20 – 24, 2007. 
  5. Dr. Grace Cruz participated on a seminar with theme, “Quality Theses and Dissertations: Our Continuing Commitment”. St. Cecilia Auditorium, Angeles University Foundation, Angeles City, Pampanga, August 22, 2007.
  6. Ms. Ma. Jenina Tongol, University Laboratory Analyst, attended a 3-day seminar on “Establishment of Shelf-Life Testing Facility and Upgrading of Nutrient Content Determination Capability”, Baguio City, October 2 -4, 2007.
  7. Dr. Grace M. Cruz and Ma. Jenina Tongol attended a lecture-forum on DOST Research Agenda and Research Funding, University of Angeles Foundation, Pampanga, November 23, 2007.

 

Linkages

Keeping abreast with current trends in school-based research and development, the Research Services Office makes full use of its links with the Central Luzon Industrial and Energy Research and Development Consortium (CLIERDEC) composed primarily of State Colleges and Universities and several private higher education institutions in Central Luzon, CLIERDEC is an initiative of the Department of Science and Technology and supported by such agencies as the Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Budget and Management, National Economic and Development Authority, and the Commission or Higher Education.

The consortium allows the RSD the opportunity for exchanges with other educational institutions, government agencies and the industries providing the University with holistic knowledge, insights and competitive in the conduct of research that leads to new technology, processes and products. Under the tutelage of CLIERDEC, the University holds regular annual in-house reviews of completed and on-going research and development project effectively contributing to the development of a research culture of the University.
