Vision
The Research Services Office aspires to be a truly dynamic and productive resource of the University making significant contributions to the development of an academic community equipped with the expertise to conduct technology-directed, innovative, creative and quality research and involved in the pursuit of institutional, regional and national development goals.
Mission
Tasked to help promote quality education and improve the productive capacity of the people in the service areas and guided by the policies and thrusts of the institution and the regional and national development goals, the Research Services Office is committed to:
- cultivate and nurture a research culture in the BSU academic community;
- generate knowledge in the broad range of disciplines that is relevant and responsive to the challenges of a dynamically changing domestic and international socio-economic environment;
- undertake research initiatives to support curricular enrichment and upgrade instructional delivery systems;
- generate baseline data and institutional statistical information useful to a wide range of university development efforts;
- encourage and develop faculty and personnel competence in writing research proposals and feasibility studies and in conducting quality basic and applied research and development projects; and
- establish strong and functional linkages and collaborate in research endeavors with government agencies, research institutions, consortia, and industry and non-government organizations.
Goals
To actualize its mission, the Research Services Office commits itself within the next five years to the following goals:
- Spearhead efforts at enhancing the competencies of the faculty and personnel in conducting and reporting researchers;
- Establish and support the functions of research committees in every department and institute of the University;
- Set-up an institutional data bank and management information system;
- Assist faculty and personnel who are in the process of writing their thesis/dissertation;
- Disseminate and publish the findings of research and other relevant information;
- Substantially involve the faculty in research undertakings along their lines of specialization;
- Institutionalize research competency as an integral component of the human resource development program of the University;
- Provide statistical and data analysis services to the institution in general;
10 - Point Program of Action
The following ten-point program is the Research Services Office’s plan of activities to improve its faculty members and students’ research capabilities:
- The BSU-RSO adopts the accepted research principles of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
- The BSU-RSO with the BSU Administration’s approval signifies full support to every faculty and students’ researches.
- The BSU-RSO conducts research consultations and workshops the whole year round to make sure that all faculty and student researchers are being help by experts.
- The BSU-RSO supports the publication of research outputs in local or international journal.
- The BSU-RSO nurtures the idea of coming up with its own research manual and research publication.
- The BSU-RSO adopts the idea of collaborative research work with other institution and organizations.
- The BSU-RSO makes available the services of its own Research assistants to help faculty and student researches in their respective concerns.
- The BSU-RSO adopts the idea of sourcing out financial support from local fund but also from other interested organization and agencies.
- The BSU-RSO encourages the publication of research results and apply for patenting of promising outputs.
The BSU-RSO endorses and supports the program of granting incentives to encourage or motivates faculty members and students to do research.
