The University continually democratizes access to higher education particularly to poor but qualified Filipino students through scholarship, grants, and other forms of assistance from both public and private sources, local and international. The granting of scholarship, grant or assistance is administered by the Office of Testing, Scholarship and Financial Assistance (OTSFA) under the Vice-President on Student Affairs in coordination with other units internal or external to the University.

The following are the policies and guidelines on the granting of academic scholarship.

I. Institutional Scholarship

  1. Entrance Scholarship is granted to high school graduates with honors which consists of discount on tuition fees for one semester (valedictorian – 100%, salutatorian – 50%), excluding other school fees, provided that the student:
    1. Graduated from a duly recognized public or private secondary school in the Philippines where the graduating class is composed of at least 100 students as certified by the school principal;
    2. Submitted a certification of honors by the school principal;
    3. Admitted to the academic unit which he/she applied in.

  2. Academic Scholarship is given to any regular student (with an academic load of at least 15 units) who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, provided the following requirements have been complied with:

    1. Submitted the registration card and all class cards duly certified by the academic head of the College or Institute to the OTSFA within the prescribed period;
    2. Has no pending case with the Board on Student Discipline.

    1. Full academic scholarship consists of 100% discount on tuition fees, excluding all other school fees, for one semester. This is given to a student who obtained a weighted average of 1.50 and above in all the academic courses enrolled, including In-Plant Training as applicable, and with no grade lower than 2.00 in any subject in the preceding semester.
    2. Partial academic scholarship consists of 50% discount on tuition fees, excluding other school fees, for one semester . This is given to a student who obtained a weighted average of 1.51 to 1.75 in all the academic courses enrolled, including In-Plant Training as applicable, and with no grade lower than 2.00 in any subject in the preceding semester.

  3. Study Grant is awarded to any regular student who has demonstrated exemplary performance in co-curricular activities in student organizations, club or societies or groups. The grant consists of discount on tuition fees, excluding other school fees, to the following:

    1. Supreme Student Government:
      President (100%) and Vice-President (50%);

    2. 1.3.2 Student who has special talents in sports, performing arts and other cultural or intellectual pursuits (research, innovations, creative work, etc.) is granted partial or full discount on tuition fees, excluding other school fees, as recommended by the coach/adviser through the academic head and approved by the OTSFA.

    • A recipient of study grant must pass at least 50% plus one of the total academic * units   enrolled during the period the grant is awarded.

    * IPERS Director stated that SCUAA Board applies the 50% plus one of the total academic units.

II. Student assistantship shall be made available to qualified students every semester/summer in accordance with the regulations of the University and the Commission on Audit, provided that the applicant has:

  1. passed the screening of the unit requesting for the services in coordination with the OTSFA;
  2. no failing grade in any subject in the previous semester;
  3. not been subjected to any disciplinary proceedings by the University;
  4. not committed any infraction of the law of the land;
  5. been recommended by the unit in need for the services.

III. Private scholarships are grants or assistance provided by private individuals, institutions, or organizations to regular students who pass the qualifications and standards set by the benefactors provided that these are not contrary to existing University policies, rules and regulations. Grantees should have:

  1. a weighted average of at least 2.0 and with no grade of 3.0 in any subject;
  2. no pending case with the Board of Student Discipline;

III. Financial assistance is granted to single, unemployed, and fully dependent children of administrative officials, permanent faculty members and regular non-academic personnel who are admitted to the academic unit they applied for. This consists of 100% discount on tuition fee, excluding other school fees.
