Goal II: Innovative and Responsive Research and Public Engagement


The research program and extension program of Bulacan State University are a result of close collaboration with national agencies and frequent consultation with the industries, LGUs and citizenry of the province and the region.

The research program is focused in responding to the immediate needs of the community. These studies are envisioned for use in academic instruction, extension projects and bases for policy making and blueprint for production. Researches are conducted in the interest of social justice and sustainable development to attain equity among a diverse population.

The extension program aims to fully utilize the research outputs for industry assistance community and social restructuring and efficient delivery of services to the vulnerable and high risk groups in a stratified society.

The university will be unyielding in its pursuit to bridge the gaps in information and services thus research and extension. This is its mechanism to ensure that equity is achieved.

The Research Agenda for 2016-2020 which is anchored on the Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives of the University reflects the priorities and thrusts of the national government particularly those of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). It also reflects the immediate needs and concerns of Central Luzon and the Local Government Units of Bulacan. This agenda, when fulfilled to its optimum, will address the genuine problems confronting society in general and Bulacan State University in particular.

Subgoal I: Establish Relevant Research Programs

To put direction to the efforts to be exerted by the University Research Office, the threshold will be to identify priorities and thrusts in this area through consultation with stakeholders, round table discussions, and inventory of completed on-going researches. The data gathered from these activities will be analyzed, synthesized, and transformed into a printed document containing the comprehensive research agenda of the University to be approved by the Board of Regents.


Subgoal II: Institutionalize Innovation and Technology Support Office

The Research office eyes to setup a patent service program under the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO). To realize such, survey and evaluation of uotputs with strong potential for patent or copyright has to be done in the light of the guidelines set by the Intellectual Property Office, facilitate prototype improvement and extend financial assistance for preparation of diocuments, benchmark on establiosh linakges with ITSOs with outstanding delivery of services.


Subgoal III: Efficient Research and Knowledge Management

The Univesity will create an enabling environment and opportunities for technology transfer by facilitating research outputs commercialization through government ang industry cooperation

Knowledge generated from researches will be pointless and irrelevant unless translated into programs that will benefit communities. As such, the generation of new knowledge directly and specifically geared toward the application of focused and deliberated problem solving efforts.

The application of this generated knowledge by the institution and its resources in addressing the challenges of the communities through collaboration can be termed as public engagement or extension programs of the University.

It is the madate of the University to advance relevant researches which results are for public consumption and benefit. BulSU through its Research Office will make available and promote access to significant information, products, and services as outcomes of research efforts.


Subgoal IV: Responsive Community Engagement

Based from the community engagement thrust of the University, consultation with the stakeholder will be carried out so as to streamline its problems and lessen the gap based from the manpower requirement of the University.


Subgoal V: Ensuring Environment Protection and Management

Community engagement Office envisioned to set up services that will address the potential hazards to environment.

As the university engage itself to the community, environmental consideration will also be given to address the negative impacts of environemtn practices.
