BulSU partners with ABS-CBN's Bayan Mo, I-Patrol Mo

An informative webinar in p with the upcoming national elections was held on January 24, 2022 through the collaboration of ABS-CBN's Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo (BMPM) and one of its partner academes, Bulacan State University, through the efforts of the Office of Student Affairs for Main Campus and External Campuses, Media Relations Office, and the BulSU Student Government.

Given the theme "May Bilang and Boto Ko", the webinar's aim was to inform the students of their vital role in the elections.

In her message, Dr. Cecilia S. Navasero-Gascon, University President, highlighted that the youth should be empowered to realize their vital role in their communities through active participation. She also expressed her gratitude to ABS-CBN and the BulSU offices for bringing this timely and enlightening discussion to BulSUans.

Aired via Zoom and Facebook live through the official page of BulSU, the first topic of the event was discussed by the BMPM Head, Ms. Rowena Paraan which was about Citizen Journalism and the Elections. She emphasized how ordinary citizens could present real scenarios through video documentation which can make information dissemination easier.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jervis Manahan, an ABS-CBN reporter shared the advantages and disadvantages of Social Media and the importance of fact checking to avoid misinformation and disinformation. Also, Ms. Antonette Eduardo, Networking and Advocacy Officer of Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) enlightened the participants regarding the significant role of different organizations in the coming election.

This partnership with ABS-CBN was formally launched on January 17, 2022 through a virtual covenant signing attended by Prof. Joseph Roy Celestino and Prof. Gerald Hilario, Vice Chancellors for Student Affairs for Main and External Campuses.
