OUTCOMES-BASED EDUCATION FRAMEWORK

Program Advisory Panel - The Program Advisory Panel's Role is to review the program, from its program educational objectives, to the assessment and evaluation and finally to the improvement of the program. Although advisory panel do not set academic policy, their recommendations play an instrumental role in program development.

The Mission and Vision defines the expected graduate attributes while the Program Educational Objectives (PEO) describes what graduates are expected to attain within three to five years after graduation, The Program Outcomes (PO) describe what students know and can do after graduation and Learning Outcomes describe what the students know and can demonstrate at the end of the course.

Defining the outcomes is the key in curriculum and course design and delivery. The teaching methods, learning activities, topics and assessment tools must be aligned with the outcomes and at the end of the course of program, an assessment must be done to determine whether the outcomes were achieved or not.

The purpose of assessment is to provide a continuous process of planning, measuring, analyzing results, and using the results to make informed decisions that, preferably, lead to improvements (CQI).
